My Portsmouth based client has a brilliant Service Desk Manager – in fact he is so good, that he has been temporarily “acquired” by another project and has had to step away from his team.
The incumbent SDM will really be able to throw himself into the new project, once he knows the service desk is in good hands. With that in mind, we have been asked to find an Interim Service Desk Manager to work three days a week for the next four months.
An experienced individual who can “ keep the ship steady” and provide high levels of IT Service Management, strong people management skills and a good technical background combined with solid customer service experience. The successful candidate will have a positive problem-solving attitude and strong motivational skills
The Interim SDM will be tasked with continuing the delivery of an effective IT Service Desk in line with ITIL standards and the needs of the business, providing advice and guidance, ensuring resolution within agreed timescales and that customers are appraised of progress.
Scope of the role:
Lead the day to day operation of the IT service desk, which provides the single point of contact for the whole environment dealing with all IT incidents, requests, inquiries and the rectification of underlying problems.
Implement and manage the SLAs, standards and procedures
Support team development
Proven track record of IT Service Desk Management
Managing an ITIL based Service Desk, implementing and following best practice
Management of IT analysts and engineers (1st/2nd line)
Managing, developing, motivating and mentoring staff
Strong leadership and resource management
Diligent and highly organised
Committed to exceptional customer service
An excellent communicator with good written and interpersonal skills
Consistent, supportive, proactive and take pride in everyone’s success
Development and maintenance of effective customer and business relationships, and delivering service improvements
