My client is looking for a Technical Infrastructure Manager to lead a 3rd line Infrastructure Operations team supporting all network (Cisco) and virtual environments (VMWare). As the role focuses on aligning the team with IT Service Management best practice, knowledge of ITIL, process development and service improvement is crucial for this role.

To carry out this role in you must be able to work proactively under your own initiative, take responsibility and demonstrate leadership. A current driving licence is also required, alongside:

·         Proven experience as a manager or team leader

·         A background workload planning and delivery of key targets within an IT service environment.

·         Development and documentation of standard build documents and operating procedures

·         Change management and service improvement

·         Good analytical and problem solving skills – ability to analyse complex data/information and make judgements/draw conclusions

·         Ability to organise and prioritise own workload and that of others and adjust plans as required both in the short and long term

 

And here’s the techy stuff:

·         Technical know-how to manage a 3rd line support team, delivering leadership, direction and supervision.

·         Technically excellent in given technology field(s) to aid the prompt resolution of any incident aligned to you by the Service Desk - to be both a technical escalation point for direct reports and a management escalation point for strategic and operational decisions.

·         Takes responsibility for the provision, management and security of 3rd line services e.g. Networks, SAN, LAN, WAN, IP Telephony, VMware, Windows Server, host applications and reporting systems.

·         Act as LAN/WAN consultant

·         reviewing the network/server design, oversee and implement modifications, extensions, repairs and upgrades to the LAN / WAN / Datacentre environment

·         To ensure the provision of hardware / software to identify performance issues and improve the design and configuration of the Network infrastructure, and to manage the resolution of any network issues

·         To ensure all Network and Server infrastructure is maintained to an appropriate level to ensure the development, availability and security of the Network infrastructure.

·         Maintain the Storage infrastructure and virtualisation environment

·         Develop and enforce the Network Security Policy alongside the Cyber Security Manager

·         Significant IP telephony experience (Cisco CUCM) is advantageous but not essential

 

This is a customer facing role calling for excellent interpersonal, communication and stakeholder management skills and the successful candidate will be called upon to provide leadership and support for all aspects of projects – planning; reporting; budgetary control and external and internal resource management.
